She wanted to argue with what he said, like she always did. She always rebeled against everything. But what did it bring her but heartache? So now she just smiled at him. She didn't say anything, she didn't want to. There was nothing to say any longer, not that she could think of it anyway. So she just smiled at him, like she always did. He made her want to smile. His girl, his girl! her heart screamed like a teenager. It'd fallen too hard. And if this was just a dream, she never wanted to wake up to that bloody sunrise. She didn't want to lie either. She didn't want anything anymore. She just wanted to waste time. Wasting time with Caleb. It was pitiful, really. Good thing he wasn't nefarious or masochistic, because after her small episode, she was fairly certain she would do anything for him now, just too keep him around. Even if she lost her sense of being. Somehow, in her warped mind, it would be worth it to see his face a moment longer. Always, always, always.
She sat cross-legged on the bed, and tucked her hair behind her ears. Hold it together, hold me together. She ate a french fry. "Good call for food. I don't think I could stomach anything else. It's been... quite a night, so far." She frowned at the way she said that, wishing she could take it back. SO far? Did that mean something else was going to happen? That was not in her game plan for the night. But so much had happened. Would they talk about it now, or just pretend it had never happened? She almost hoped they would never talk about it... but she couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed.
Min had always hated touch. Cringed away from it. But Caleb had gotten into her bubble, touched her in such an irrevocable way that she craved it now. Once when she would shrug him off, now she would reach out, and so she did. She grabbed his hand. Something she normally wouldn't do, too bold for the paper thin heart she possessed. "I like this," she said, looking at his hand. Trying to hint that she liked the contact, seeing as she had no better way to phrase it. Sipped at the milkshake, and giggled. "Hmm.. I love you, too." She thought aloud. Giggled again. It was funny, spending time with Caleb. But she loved it too much to ever let it go.
no one understands me quite like you do through all of the shadowy corners of me if i didn't know you I'd rather not know if i couldn't have you I'd rather be alone

Caleb looked at her, he smiled as she ate. Good she was eating, she also seemed happy now. Which made him in turn happy, still he had knots in his stomach. Part of him still thought things were a mess between them, but he didn't want to say anything. "Good," he said looking at her. He leaned over and stold a fry from her. They were good, stil warm which only made it better. "I expect you to eat more than that though," he said giving her a serious looking face. "You need to eat more Minnie," he told her looking at her. "Your mine now, and part of that is taking care of yourself," because I couldn't stand life without you.
He was just so glad that she loved him. That she thought he was good enough for her. That she wanted him to stick around. He never wanted too loose her. He stared at her, she was his entire world, everything was about her. He thought about the last time someone had meant this much to him. He'd been hurt in that relationship, in all honestly he was still hurting. A part of him still loved Devon, it was why he smuthered himself in Min. "I love you," he grabbed her, holding her from behind. He pulled her close, and smelled her hair, smelled the scent that was Min. "I love you Minnie, no matter what," and he knew he could honestly say that. He just hoped that he was enough for her. He didn't want her to leave him, he couldn't stand another heartbreak, so he worked so hard on keeping this relationship together.
"I missed you," he told her in a low husky voice. He knew they'd already been over this, but he didn't think she would ever truly understand how much of his world she was. He held her tighter, and moved he kissed her neck, again. This time was different, it wasn't a surprise attack. It was some gentle and loving, he only placed his lips against her hot skin. "Hey," he said sitting up a little bit. "Close your eyes," he told her. A stupid smile on his face, he was thinking up something. Without another word he jumped off the bed, and grabbed a little box, out of his shirt. Which was long gone, he looked at her and bit his lip wondering if he should let her...nah! He opened the box, and laid back down next to her. Placing the necklace around her neck, he whispered, "Merry christmas," he told her. "Go look in the mirror," he said touching her hand, and sending her away, he wanted her too look at it. notes :: it's around her neck now -- www.amazon.com/White-Heart-Diamond-Pendant-Necklace/dp/B000X9TGMG

She felt the cold metal against her shallow chest, and put her fingers against it. She could feel the silver, and it was like it seared her hand, in it's cool, melting type of way, with the gems on the side. She didn't ask if they were real, she didn't care. She'd rather him have gotten her something out of a vending machine, if he put the same kind of enthusiasim into it. She squeezed her eyes shut. Suddenly, this enthusiasim she was thinking about, repulsed her. Suddenly, she didn't feel like seeing his stupid, silly smile, or his over-happy heart. She was exhausted by him. She just leaned against him behind her, going limp on him, into his arms. The food wasn't near appetizing now, with it's greasy meat and crispy fries, and she couldn't feel an appetite. She was just tired.
She turned and put a finger on his mouth, even though he wasn't talking anymore. She didn't have anything to give him. At all. "I don't have anything to give you. You're lucky I came back to you, you're lucky I'm here." She didn't mean it in a mean way. She said it in a sad way, like worse could have happened besides her arm. "You're the reason, though. And, actually, I'm the lucky one. And I like this, but I have to admit, I didn't want it, - although now that I have it, you won't get it back -" she smiled at him here. I. just. need. you. I don't need jewelery. You don't have to try hard for anything. Just be. That's all I need the arms, the voice, the heart. Someone to hold me, to sooth me, to love me. I don't. need. anything. else." She chopped her words at the end, to emphasize her point. She hugged him tight, and then leaned back from him, pulling his hand (and hinting that he should come as well) onto the bed. She didn't have the weight to pull him, though she would if she could've. So she just curled up on the pillow, holding his hand to her chest, tugging him to her, because his hand was still attached to his body, even though she held it in her little death grip. Just lay with me. We don't need anything else.
he warned me not to make friends with weather my love rests in a shipwreck, with a compass in his head i’ll wait for him, like vultures wait for bodies. please send the wind out, I hear his voice now, at the bottom of the blue i’m a ship like you. one sail. one sea. you and me. and i left my soul next to the shore

Caleb looked at her, he knew he was lucky she came back. "Minnie," he said her name in a sad voice. "Why do you do that?" he asked her. "Why do you have to act like that? Like I'm lucky I get you at all, when we both know Damn well you think I'm too good for you," he said looking at her. "I mean Jesus! Everything I do, every little tiny thing, it's like you want to drive me away!" he said looking at her. He wondered if she did. "Is that what you want?" he asked her being completely serious.
She tried to lead him into the bed, but he didn't. He didn't want too lay with her. Not right now. He just couldn't do anything right with her could he. All he did was try, and all he ended up doing was failing. Over and over he failed at making her happy. He failed at being close too her. He looked at her, "You know what I just...." he stared at the ground. "I can't do this anymore Min," he told her. "I think I've finally figured it out, you don't want to be happy," he said looking at her. "You don't want me to get close, all you want is me to be there, and too lead me on. Well I've had enough of that!" he said. Without another thought Caleb moved towards the door, "I'm happy your home," he said just before slamming the door behind him. He just couldn't do it anymore. He couldn't deal with the facts, that he wasn't what she wanted, once again he wasn't the right fit for someone.
Caleb walked down the hallway, not looking back until he was in the elevator. She just kept shutting him out, maybe it was his turn to shut her out.
