Bella followed Ethan. Feeling like a lost person who needed Ethan to guide her. No one would ever understand how Bella worked, not even her family or Ethan. She let him sit down and stood in front of him, trying to think how to phrase this. Something she never told people but if it saved Ethan from thinking she was a bitch maybe it was worth a shot. Was this as deep as Bella could get? Hell no. She was a complicated girl, one had to understand that to be her friend or anything more. There was no such thing as a direct answer.
Ignoring the stares and whispers of people who recognize them. She took a deep breath. "So you probably think I'm some insane, over proud, bitchy, egotistical monster." She wasn't aware how close she was. "But, either way I don't like it when we fight. It...well, it sucks really. The air of confidence I have? I guess you could say it's an illusion. Because when other people think that I'm confident or all that. Well it gives me a name to live up to, or a mold to fit. Does that makes sense?" Bella asked, looking at Ethan quizzically.

Staring up at his girlfriend, Ethan sighed. She was explaining how she was so proud and such because she had a reputation to uphold. Yeah, it sounded legitimate, but he did not see why he had to be part of her little tortures. This scenario reminded him of back home, where life was sucky and Ethan knew it. When his mother talked to him, she always hit him, poked him, made him cry. He was thankful that Bella was far too caring (no matter how bitchy she could be) to do that. Swallowing hard, he wondered what was going on in that pretty little head of hers. Was she about to save face, be real and ditch him, or be real and admit what she did was a pretty low blow. Clasping his hands, his eyes were cast downward.
“Yes, Bella. I understand your intentions, but I don’t know why you have to keep that...” he searched for the right words slowly. “... tough exterior around me. You know I love you because you are you, but when you have that badass gossip girl who is bound to hit stardom exterior, it really makes me sad.” He knew the word ‘sad’ was utterly pathetic, but he really didn’t care. He was getting a point across, and that was all that mattered. Sniffing in a bit, he coughed as the cold wind pierced his lungs. He looked as she was still standing. “Sit...” he bade her; not in an angry, forcing manner, but a relatively polite one. He hoped this scene had not caused too much drama and gossip (though it probably had, since there are a few other gossipers clinging onto the Shameless tour for the ride). Watching people walk by and cast curious glances at the singer/gossiper duo, Ethan pursed his lips. This relationship kept him on his toes, for sure.
Notes: Sorry this sucked Dems, but I reached 312 words, even though it doesn't look like it!

Bella was stuck in a rut. Maybe not permanently, but she knew with Ethan there was only going forward, and going back. Bella's nice, and other people's nice tended to be different. She had this mega bitch masquerade, all laid out for her. But Bella couldn't be a bitch all the time. She couldn't constantly push away everyone she loved. Bella on tour being a gossip was different then Bella back home with her family. Maybe her and Ethan were messed up because of the tour. Maybe they could go home and be fine. Too many maybe's. Bell just wanted the fucking truth. Was that how Ethan felt? Suddenly, she understood. She glanced up at him, listening as he spoke.
"Sorry." She said. Her mind was working overtime, trying to figure out the best way to apologize. Without hurting him in the process. By accident. She sat down silently next to him, pondering over the situation. "Ethan, I'm sorry...I shouldn't have said that." She hung her head in shame. "It was stupid. And...I'm really sorry if it hurt you." She said. She ignored everyone staring at them. Bella was not an unknown face, and everyone on Shameless Tour was famous. As a rule. But apologizing was the best she could do. She couldn't think of another way to express herself...Except hug him. Tentatively, she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. For a minute. She pulled back and watched his reaction curiously. Did he still hate her? This was possibly the only time Bell doubted herself.

Having Bella wrap her delicate arms around him made Ethan feel oddly victorious inside. She actually loves him. This feeling really made him happy, but he was still a little pissed off that she just did not say I love you back to him. She was right. She should not have said that and it hurt him like a kick to the place where it hurts. Worse, actually. Noticing he was just standing there awkwardly as she hugged him, he flung his arms back around her. She was his and he was hers. He did not give a flying fuck what the others thought, though Bella could possibly have this thought on her mind. She was always so nervous about letting her true colors show around anyone besides him.
Pulling back from the hug, he looked at Bella straight in the eyes. “Bella, Bella, Bella.” He chuckled. “What am I going to do with you?” He smiled and started to kiss her shamelessly. Maybe he was kissing her a little too much, but he loved her. Bella was one of the only people who knew him well, and he valued her love, as well as her friendship. He looked at her affectionately again. “Bella. No matter how much we fight, always be aware that you will always be my best friend. And my love.” He was going to say I love you, but that would be pushing it and he didn’t want to make a mistake again. That was a risk he wasn’t going to take again. [/size]

Bella smiled when he hugged her back. Triumph. Successful. Everything she knew and wished she was. Maybe she was being smug....But at least it wasn't showing on the outside. Maybe it would take a while to tell him, because everyone knew Bella hated commitment of any sort, but she really did love the boy. And the greatest thing ever right now was the fact he loved her. And Bella knew she was pretty hard, if not impossible, to love. He deserved some kind of award for that. Or maybe she was as good as any award. Whatever, she didn't care. Right now was a 'live in the moment' sort of thing.
Bella blushed and shrugged. "I don't know..." She trailed off. For two reasons. That was the truth, she really didn't know, and the other reason was pretty obvious. Speaking and kissing just clashed, and it didn't work. She kissed him back, feeling so much better. "I know." She said, smiling. Maybe she wouldn't say she loved him yet, but for the meantime he knew. And besides that? She would find a way to tell him. Maybe not in words, but something more different. More unique. More in a Bella sort of way. And knowing Bella...It was going to be special.
